Oysterdex
A world of oysters. Taste them all.
A field guide to over 300 oyster varieties, and your 'dex for collecting them: every one you try gets checked off, rated and remembered.
Over 300 oysters, profiled
Brininess, sweetness, minerality and creaminess. Flavor notes, finish, size, shell and meat color. Where it's grown, how it's farmed, when it's in season, and what to drink with it.
Your 'dex
Every oyster you try gets checked off, rated and remembered. Progress for the whole library and for each region, with a rosette when you complete one.
Log a whole platter
A dozen in front of you? Pick the oysters, add a photo and where you are, then rate and take notes on each. It all gets filed under the right oyster.
Know your palate
Flavors ranked by how you actually rate them, not just how often you've had them. Whether your favorites run sweeter or brinier. And untried oysters that match, with the reasons why.
Don't see your oyster?
Type the name and log it anyway. New varieties get added to the guide regularly, and when yours shows up your tastings move onto the full profile on their own.
Private, offline, one price
The whole guide is on your phone. Your journal stays there too. No account, no subscription, no ads, no tracking.

Frequently asked
Where does the oyster information come from?
Many profiles, flavor notes and illustrations come from the wonderful folks at oystertastingguide.com, credited on every profile in the app. Additional oysters are researched and added over time.
Does it need an account or internet?
No account. The guide and your journal live on your phone and work offline. The app goes online only to fetch new oyster profiles and, if you log an oyster that isn't in the guide, to submit that name anonymously so it can be researched.
What gets sent when I log an oyster that isn't in the guide?
The name you typed, your notes for that oyster and up to three of the photos you attached to it, with no account, device ID or location. It's used only to write a profile for that oyster. Log oysters already in the guide and nothing is sent at all.
Is it a subscription?
No. Oysterdex is a one-time purchase on the App Store. Catalog updates are included.
Where is my journal stored?
On your device only, in the app's private storage. Deleting the app deletes it.
