Drive Audio

Listen to the mixes, demos and rehearsals in your Google Drive as playlists. Take notes at the exact moment you hear something. Share them with the people you're working with.

Free. Requires iOS 18 and a Google account. Distributed by direct link — it won't appear in App Store search.

Your Drive, as playlists

My Drive, Shared with me, Shared drives and Starred in one place. Folders without audio are hidden so you only see what you can play.

Built for trading tracks

See who shared each file and when, newest first. Shortcuts to audio just work. Tap Play Folder and hear a whole session.

Note the moment

Tap Note Here while listening. Playback pauses, you type, it resumes. Notes are pinned to the exact timestamp and marked on the scrubber.

Export notes as text

Copy or share every note for a track or a whole folder, formatted with timestamps and track names, ready to paste into a doc.

Take it offline

Download a track or a whole folder. Tracks you play on Wi‑Fi are cached automatically so the next listen is instant.

Lock Screen and CarPlay

Scrub, skip and jump ±15 seconds from the Lock Screen, Control Center, CarPlay or headphone buttons. Resumes after calls.

How it works

Private by design. The app connects only to Google Drive, on your behalf, with read-only access. No accounts, no servers, no ads, no tracking.

  1. 1

Install from the App Store link above, then sign in with Google. Drive Audio asks only for read-only access to your files. If Google shows an “unverified app” notice, tap Advanced → Go to Drive Audio.

  2. 2

Browse to a folder of audio, or open a folder someone shared with you.

  3. 3

Tap a track, or Play Folder to play everything. Tap Note Here to mark a moment.

  4. 4

Export your notes, or download the folder for the road.

Notes export like this:

## Aftermidnight v3.wav
- [0:52] kick a touch loud in the intro
- [2:15] harmony comes in late, try one bar earlier
- [4:40] love the outro — keep the tape hiss

## Leave Me Alone v2.wav
- [0:12] check vocal tuning on "alone"

Frequently asked

Google says the app isn't verified. Is that OK?

Yes. Drive Audio is shared with a small group rather than published broadly, so Google shows a one-time notice on first sign-in. Tap “Advanced”, then “Go to Drive Audio”, and continue. The app only ever has read-only access to your Drive; you can review or revoke it any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Which files play?

MP3, M4A/AAC and WAV files, including Google Drive shortcuts to them.

Does it upload or change anything in my Drive?

No. Drive Audio has read-only access and never modifies, moves or deletes your files. Notes you take are stored only on your device.

Why does it sometimes ask me to sign in again?

Google can revoke access tokens, for example if you change security settings or remove the app from your Google account. Sign in again and everything picks up; downloads and notes stay on your device.

Where are downloads and notes kept?

On your device only, in the app's private storage. Deleting the app deletes them, so export notes you want to keep.

What does the app collect about me?

Nothing. There are no accounts of ours, no servers, no analytics and no ads. The app talks only to Google Drive on your behalf.
